GRMPY

This creature is the pet you didn’t know you wanted.

Don’t be fooled by his fluffy coat, he doesn’t like to be touched.

If you are curious enough and go near him he will change his mood when you try and pet him.

Different zones of his body induce changes in his singing melody. To a touch of his back, he reacts with a loud, deep growl. In contrast to that, he will shriek when you pet his head.

Maybe you can become his friend.

With this synthesizer you can learn understanding the influence our actions have on others, and that not everyone might like it immediately.

APPROACH

GRMPY is made out of Velostat as its main electronic feature. In combination with conductive tape the Velostat acts as a pressure sensor.

When implemented into a circuit it is same as a resistor. Changing the pressure on the sensor changes therefore the resistance and that the amount of electricity that arrives at the receiver.

From this knowledge I wanted to design a synthesiser that is fun to interact with and isn't directly obvious how it works. The fun in the experience was the most important.
